I know it may sound like a lot. its a lot to take in but trust me its worth it. Natural hair care is no walk in the park. understand that natural hair is an investment. Not just financially but time and dedication. Trust me when I say it’s not easy. However, you want to make sure you have everything you need to make your journey as smooth as possible. For this reason, I put together a list of 11 hair tools that every natrualnista should add to their hair collection. ( disclaimer this post contains affiliate links)

  1. Applicator bottle this tool is extremely helpful when you are trying to apply essential oils to your hair. I know it can be very frustrating to pour your oils directly from the bottles. For one it can be messy. Two you may pour out too much or too little. That method can be too time-consuming. When you use an applicator bottle it will help you drop multiple oils in a bottle that you can easily pour into the desired area. The top of the nasal is small enough so you can fit it in areas that may be hard to reach. Also if you decide to wear your hair in protective styles such as a sew-in, or braids. This applicator makes it easy for you to apply the oils you need without missing any areas and without making a mess.

why different oils are good for your natural hair.

2. Essential Oils your hair needs oils.

I know some women still use grease in their hair, but grease will only weigh your hair down. Yes, Moisture is your hair best friend, but you do not want that kind of moisture. Some people may have one oil that they may apply to their hair however I believe it’s important to apply multiple oils to your hair. Different oils provide different nutrients that are needed for your hair to grow. Make sure you invest in, the oils mentioned in the picture. I also recommend wild growth oil as well.

3. Plastic caps are the best way to seal moisture into your hair. Whenever you apply a deep conditioner or a hot oil treatment to your hair it’s important to seal it with a plastic cap. Leave the product in your hair for 30 minutes with a plastic cap. Doing this will keep the product in place allowing your hair to absorb the products more efficiently.

4. Wide-tooth combs

I know most hairdressers use smaller combs when styling hair. However, when it comes to detangling your hair it’s important to use a wide-tooth comb. Small tooth combs are good for parting your hair. But combs with small teeth will only cause breakage. Wide-tooth combs are better for detangling and it is known to have less breakage.

5. Hair Picks

Picks are a great tool to use when you want to stretch out your hair. I know sometimes shrinkage can be a little frustrating. This tool will help you pick your hair out from the roots which will give the ability to stretch your hair out so it can appear it’s the true length. That way you won’t be tempted to straighten your hair as much.

6. Demi brushes also good for detangling hair. Many people use this brush to add definition to their hair when they are doing a wash and go. Make sure you utilize this brush properly. when you entangled your hair it’s important to start from the bottom up. brush your ends first and then work your way upward to avoid breakage.

7. Hooded dryer

Heat is a way to lock moisture during deep conditioned and hot oil treatment. So when you put your hair under a plastic cap and you sit under the dryer you will see amazing results. Also if you are in a rush and you do not want to apply direct heat on your hair, this is the perfect tool to utilize.  protective spray.

8. Spray bottle

Water is your best friend also. Sometimes we need to apply some water to our hair so it can get some moisture. Trying to apply water in your hair by hand can be tedious. it’s also not necessary to put your head under the sink all the time either.  A spray bottle will save you the time and the headache,  especially if you only want to wet certain parts of your hair. The spray bottle allows you to add water to your hair without you having to make a mess or feel obligated to wash your hair.

9. Keep old shirts for drying your hair.

I know most people use hair towels for their wet hair. However, towels will cause frizz and increase breakage. The material on towels is too rough for your hair. it’s better to use a shirt because the shirts are less harsh. On top of that most shirts are made from cotton.

10. Make sure you invest in some Hair vitamins.

I know Hairinfinty and the main choice or the most trending hair vitamins out there especially for women of color. Personally, I never used either one. Now don’t get me wrong I have heard good things about both products. However, I do not want to spend that much money on vitamins so I use  Nature’s Bounty, hair skin, and nail vitamins. They have swallow pills and gummies. I used both and they both have the same effect.  The reason I use these because other vitamins I used in the past caused me to break out. However this I have seen great results from this brand and I have not had any issues with breaking out. Keep in mind my skin is extremely sensitive.

Hair Clips

11. Hair Clips is an underrated hair tool.

When you wash and detangle your hair it’s important to put your hair into small sections. This is the most affectionate way to ensure that the product is being applied to your hair properly. For this reason. You should invest in clips. Clips will help you separate your hair and hold it in place as you work through the desired areas. This is one of the safest methods to use. Some people may use rubber bands and scrunchies. However, that is not a good method to use unless your hair is detangled. The last thing you want to do is apply a rubber band or a scrunchie before detangling your hair. This will make your hair even more tangled. Which may cause you to get your hair caught. To avoid frustration and breakage clips would be a more ideal tool to use.

Bonus Tip

I believe the best way to stay motivated is when you can track your results. Investing in a hair growth shirt is the perfect way to do this. Everyone wants to know that their hair is growing. This shirt has marks on it so you can measure your hair to see the growth. I believe this is a great tool. If you notice your hair isn’t growing then you know that you may have to switch your method and products. However, when you see the growth it’s confirmation that the methods you are using are working.  if you are naturalist that just did a big chop, then I recommend you use regular measure tape, which is used for shorter hair.
